Website Options for Local Associations
STEP 1 – Determine which category you are in and follow the instructions.
Category 1: Already have it under control
Many associations already have a website and a Facebook page. If you are happy with the website you have, please send us your domain name (i.e. www.yourwebsite.com) so we can get to your website. Same goes with Facebook, if you have a Facebook page set up, please send us the name of your Facebook page or link to get to your page. We will include a link to get to your association information on the list of Local Associations.
Category 2: Need a Website
If you do not have a website and you want one, the first step is to get your domain name (i.e. www.yourassociationname.com). Go to GoDaddy.com and enter the domain you want to use. If it is available, you will be able to purchase that domain. You will also want to purchase GoDaddy's Website Builder tool. There are other tools available out in the world, but GoDaddy's Website Builder tool is simple enough that anyone can learn how to use it. And you don't have to understand HTML to get your website done.
Category 3: You have a website but you want to move to an easier website tool
This is the category the Colorado State USBC was in. We had a website, but it was very difficult to maintain because it wasn't easy to update. If you are in this boat, call GoDaddy.com and purchase their Website Builder Tool. You already have a domain so you won't need to buy that – your domain name remains the same. You will be setting up a sub-domain (or temporary domain) under which you will develop your new site. This will allow your current website to run uninterrupted until your new website is ready to go live.
STEP 2 – Let's build pages!
Once you have a domain and the Website Builder Tool, you are in business! If you need help with the tool you can work directly with GoDaddy.com support (they are really amazing by the way) or you can contact us if you have any questions. When you go live with your website, be sure to let us know so that we can update the Local Association List with your website info.
We're always here to help! Just use the Contact Us form to get in touch with us and we'll help in any way we can!
